Post and Beam Home Styles

RUSTIC ELEGANCE, STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY

TIMELESS CRAFTSMANSHIP, BUILT TO LAST

Post and beam homes celebrate the artistry of exposed timber frames and open designs, creating spaces that are as strong as they are stunning.

At Ennis Construction, we specialize in crafting post and beam homes that combine timeless techniques with modern functionality.

Whether you're drawn to rustic charm or contemporary elegance, these homes offer unmatched warmth, character, and durability.

Why Choose a Post and Beam Style Home?

  • Exposed Timber Frames: Beautiful woodwork is at the heart of the design, showcasing craftsmanship and natural materials.

  • Open, Airy Spaces: Vaulted ceilings and expansive layouts create a sense of openness and connection.

  • Durability and Strength: Built with solid, sustainable materials designed to stand the test of time.

  • A Blend of Rustic and Modern: Post and beam homes can reflect traditional charm or sleek contemporary design.

Mountaintop Home in Hartland, Vermont

This home features two reassembled historic barns: a 1790s post-and-beam from New York and an 1840s oak frame from Massachusetts.

Built with green practices, it includes a passive solar heating system centered around a freestanding fireplace housed in a silo-style dormer with 14 windows. High R-rated insulation, radiant floor heating, and heat recovery ventilation enhance energy efficiency, while solar panels provide domestic and radiant hot water.

Notable features include a stone fireplace with an indoor waterfall and fish pond, a hot tub loft overlooking the entertainment room, and custom iron railings. Native black cherry trim and a handcrafted staircase complete this one-of-a-kind, inviting home.

Hybrid Post and Beam

This hybrid post and beam home relies heavily on solar energy for its electrical needs. From the hickory hardwood floors to the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace with a beauty of its own, every detail stands out.

The kitchen encourages gathering and conversation, while the office offers a view. A temperature-controlled wine room adds function, and the simplicity of the soaking tub complements the elegance of the front door—a statement piece all its own.

Make it stand out.

  • These guys came onto our project halfway through it, and rescued it from being way behind schedule and an unorganized mess. They are so easy to deal with and really care about the final product. It's really hard to pick out a builder — they are all so different. This is a company you can place your trust in, which I've now learned is the most important quality I look for. You can't go wrong here. We are using them for our next two projects for sure
